JORDI VENTURA FONTANETProgram Director of Ostelea School of Tourism and Hospitality

Our mission is to contribute to the sustainable social, economic and cultural development of the industry by training executives and professionals in the sector. We are committed to innovation and promote the development of bonds between Ostelea and companies in the sector in order to bring new solutions to the market.

We run Masters in the main areas of tuition in the field of tourism, including Hotel Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Protocol and Event Organization, Leisure and Sports Management, and Tourism Destinations. These programs are available in full-time and executive in-person format. In addition, some programs are also offered online in order to give greater flexibility to our students.

Our students are at the heart of our activity and we enable them to acquire applicable and practical knowledge, thanks to our faculty of lecturers who combine their teaching activity with their responsibilities in leading companies in the tourism sector. Ostelea runs its activities on two campuses in Barcelona and Madrid, two privileged locations that enable us to blend academic knowledge with the practical insight into the management of the best public and private organizations that are leaders in the tourism sector and hospitality industry at both a European and global level.

Ostelea has received recognition from the leading associations in the tourism and education sectors. We are a member of the WTO (World Tourism Organization) and form part of its Knowledge Network, one of the most important in the sector. Ostelea has also been invited to join the CHRIE (Council of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education), the leading international network of tourism university centres (with headquarters in the United States), making us one of just two members in Spain. In 2015, Ostelea also decided to join the PRME, the United Nations’ campaign to promote responsible education in management. Moreover, we are active members of the AEPT (Spanish Association of Tourism Professionals), AEDH (Spanish Association of Hotel Managers), EARTH (European Alliance of Responsible Tourism and Hospitality) and ATLAS (Association for Tourism and Leisure Education and Research).

At Ostelea, we maintain close relations with the business ecosystem, which underpins our academic programs and related activities. The strong links that we have with the national and international business community enables us to gain privileged insight into companies operating in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. Currently, over a hundred companies form part of our network, including Hilton, American Express, Barceló Viajes, Lonely Planet and Turijobs. Our business knowledge network is also enriched by our Global Network of International University Partners, made up of more than thirty tourism universities and higher education centres all over the world, with which we constantly exchange knowledge, lecturers and students.

At our Barcelona Campus, Ostelea is affiliated to the Universitat de Lleida, the fourth leading university in Spain in terms of tuition with a clear international orientation, which guarantees the official status of certain programs run at the School. At its Madrid Campus, Ostelea obtains the official status of certain programs through the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. At both campuses, Ostelea is also proud to have one of the leading partners in international education: EAE Business School. This exclusive alliance enables us to boast a significant competitive advantage, as we are the only tourism training centre that combines tuition in the field with the development of the key knowledge and competences from the world of management. EAE has trained more than 70,000 executives who now head leading companies. The School has regularly ranked as one of the top business schools in Spain in various national and international rankings.

Welcome to Ostelea.

Pictogramme The Sector of Hospitality Management

Hospitality Management encompasses the operation of hotels, campgrounds, restaurants, convention centers and travel agencies. ... The overall goal of any hospitality manager is to make sure customers have an overall pleasant experience while putting in place a strategy to oversee that the establishment is run efficiently and profitably. The hospitality sector offers good prospects for early responsibility, and fast career advancement, so if you show a willingness and ability to learn, you can gain experience and move to a managerial position early on in your career. It can be either done via direct classes or via online classes, this will depend on the package you choose. In general students who choose to do direct classes tend to pay more than students who choose Webex sessions since they are broadcasted through 16 cities, and the cost is split between all universities that broadcast the lecture which means that the number of students mulltiplies into 10 instead of the regular number that will not exceed 40 in a normal classroom.

The end result remains the same, since both of them take the same final exam, they receive the same diploma.
