Our Master of Science in Finance program produces leaders in the field of Finance. The program focuses on Risk Management, Financial Engineering, Banking, Corporate Finance, and Portfolio Analysis and Management. It has been designed to combine quantitative and computer skills with financial theory and applications.
Not only is our Master's program known for its outstanding curriculum, but the caliber of our student body is top quality. As a potential candidate, you should recognize that admission to the program is highly competitive and we select only those students who appear most likely to succeed in meeting the challenges of our demanding and rigorous program.
Financial expertise, in-depth knowledge and practical hands-on training have become crucial for the success of companies and for the career of working professionals. It is for this reason that the MSF program at the George Washington University was introduced. The program started in 1993. Students complete the degree in 12 months by attending the intensive program or in 24 months by attending the regular program.

Programme Overview
The MSF Program builds upon a bachelor's or master's degree in business administration or other quantitative disciplines and emphasizes both financial theory and quantitative methods in financial management. Students engage in applied research and modeling, using a variety of large professional databases and computer software packages. They explore the international and regulatory dimensions of finance, and focus on risk management, financial engineering, banking, corporate finance, real estate, and portfolio analysis and management.

- English Language Requirement - graduates from countries where English is not an official language and non-native English speakers are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (Internet-based) on the TOEFL or an overall band score of 6.0 on the academic IELTS with no individual band score below 5.0, is required for consideration for admission. Students with a TOEFL score of 550 to 599 are considered for admission, but must take the GW English for Academic Purposes Placement Test. Depending on test results, the study of English for Academic Purposes may be required. The student may be restricted in the number and type of courses that can be taken. Students assigned English for Academic Purpose courses should anticipate additional related tuition expenses as well as a possible extended period of time required to complete their degree program.

Rice and Dawn Duques Hall & Norma Lee and Morton Funger Hall
In January 2006, the School of Business opened its new complex, the newly constructed Rice and Dawn Duques Hall and the renovated Norma Lee and Morton Funger Hall. This complex provides students with a unified center for study.
Classrooms
All new high-tech classrooms contain projector screens, ceiling-mounted overhead projectors, TV/VCR/DVD, instructor voice-amplification technology, program amplification controls built into lecterns, document cameras, slide converters, and wireless microphones.
Capital Markets Trading Room
MSF Students share with the Business School students a Trading Laboratory where they can simulate real online trading on both national and international markets. The Capital Markets room is equipped with software and information systems for financial modeling, trading, and portfolio management.
