Digital transformation and talent gap Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are modifying our social and economic interactions. They have given rise to forms of organization that alter the business landscape at an unprecedented rate. In the hyper-connected and highly-skilled world that characterizes modern society, new businesses of all sizes can compete locally and globally; emerging business models from nascent companies are disrupting well-established industries. In this highly dynamic environment, successful organizations are often those that have changed their perception of ICT from a simple backend service provider, and instead consider them as an enabler for the creation of new products and services, that contribute to the sustainability of the organization. At the same time, ICTs have a great potential to optimize practically all the processes of the organization. In order to maximize the value that these technologies can bring, top management must be digital savvy. They must be aware of the digital trends and understand how to adapt them to their business units to strengthen the strategic guidelines of the organization. In our opinion, this is what the so-called talent gap of the digital transformation wave is about. We need high-impact professionals capable of integrating ICTs with business processes, aligned with the organization's strategy. Moreover, we need cross-cutting leaders who understand the ecosystem in which the company operates and detect the opportunities that ICTs offer to raise the competitiveness of their organizations
