Waseda Business School Earns AACSB Re-Accreditation

Waseda Business School (WBS), the Graduate School of Business and Finance at Waseda University, has successfully obtained AACSB International re-accreditation in July 2025, reinforcing its position among the world’s leading institutions in management education. Earlier in March 2025, WBS also renewed its EQUIS accreditation, strengthening its global academic standing.

With both AACSB and EQUIS distinctions, WBS remains one of only two business schools in Japan to hold this prestigious dual international recognition.

A Mark of Global Academic Excellence

AACSB accreditation is widely regarded as one of the most respected quality benchmarks in business education worldwide. The evaluation process assesses institutions on academic rigor, faculty qualifications, research impact, strategic management, innovation, and continuous improvement.

By achieving re-accreditation, WBS demonstrates sustained excellence across teaching, research, and institutional governance. The distinction confirms that the school meets internationally recognized standards while actively enhancing its academic offerings and impact.

Maintaining dual accreditation from AACSB and EQUIS places Waseda Business School within an elite global network of institutions committed to continuous development and innovation in management education.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Unlike one-time certifications, AACSB accreditation emphasizes ongoing progress and strategic enhancement. Institutions must demonstrate measurable improvements in curriculum design, learning outcomes, faculty research productivity, and engagement with the business community.

For WBS, this recognition reflects a long-term commitment to:

  • Delivering globally competitive MBA and graduate programs

  • Advancing impactful research in business and finance

  • Strengthening partnerships with international institutions and industry leaders

  • Ensuring high standards of governance and academic integrity

This achievement further enhances WBS’s attractiveness to international students, faculty, and corporate partners seeking globally aligned business education in Asia.

Positioning Japan on the Global Business Education Map

AACSB, founded in 1916, is the longest-standing global accrediting body for business schools and connects a worldwide network of institutions, educators, and industry leaders. Only a small percentage of business schools offering degree programs at bachelor’s level or higher hold this distinction.

By maintaining both AACSB and EQUIS accreditations, WBS reinforces Japan’s presence within the top tier of international business education providers. The dual recognition signals academic quality comparable to leading institutions in North America and Europe.

Strengthening Global Visibility and Impact

As part of Waseda University, one of Japan’s most prestigious academic institutions, WBS continues to expand its global reach. The reaffirmation of international accreditations supports its strategic vision of cultivating responsible leaders capable of navigating complex global markets.

Through rigorous academic standards, international collaboration, and a strong research culture, Waseda Business School consolidates its role as a key player in the Asia-Pacific business education landscape.
